Karel ENGLIŠ
Karel Engliš's memories accompany us from 1900, when the author first met T. G. Masaryk, until 1937, when Masaryk died. With the first president of the Czechoslovak Republic, Engliš spent the peak stage of his life as a scientist and economist. He contributed to the founding of Masaryk University, became its first rector, was appointed Masaryk Minister of Finance six times, and in 1934 Governor of the National Bank of Czechoslovakia.
The relationship of these personalities was extraordinary, accompanied by mutual respect and esteem. Evidence of the extraordinary relationship of these remarkable personalities is kept by Masaryk University in the form of insignia - medals and a rector's chain.
